William Patrick Liggett
William Patrick Liggett, 70, of Dover, peacefully passed away with his faith in Christ Jesus and surrounded by his loving family on Saturday evening, July 2nd, 2022 at his home after years of declining lung health.
Born in Dennison, Ohio on March 15th, 1952. William (Bill) was a son of the late William (Bill) Fenton Liggett and Mary Theresa Keenan-Carruthers.
Bill was a graduate of Claymont High School class of 1970. In 1973 he married Monica Jane Edgar, whom he remained faithful to as his lifelong love for 49 years.
He went to work for The Warner & Swasey Company in 1978, and retired from The Gradall Company in 2016 after 38 years.
Bill had a love of sports. In his youth he was an incredible pool player. He went on to play in leagues connected to bowling, softball, basketball, tennis and ended with a love affair with golf.
Above everything he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Celeste and Oswald.
In addition to his wife Monica Liggett, Bill leaves behind his family: two sons, Hombre (Marci) Liggett of Dover and Derek (Megan) Liggett of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Celeste Liggett and Oswald Liggett; a sister, Jean (Dory) McComb; and brother, Sheldon (Steve) Liggett of Strongsville and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was proceeded in death by his sister Joyce Keenan Terazzi and stepmother, Della Liggett.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 2:00 PM at Burning River Church, 420 W. Third Street, Dover, OH 44622. A time to greet the family will be held between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM preceding the service. Condolences and special memories of Bill can be shared with his family online at
