Shirley Cavnah

Born: 07/13/1923 Passed:

It can be hard to find the right words to pay tribute and sum up the life of the woman who has raised and cared for you.  Shirley lived an active and full life and her Family was her anchor. Shirley was an Avid Nascar Fan and only an Act of God could prevent her from missing a race. She was beloved by her children and those who knew her. She listened without judgment. She gave without expectation. She helped out because it was the right thing to do. She was honest because there was no other way to be. Though Shirley’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. She was an inspiration to all that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilber S Poorman, Joy Marie (McKinney) Poorman and her brother, Jack Poorman and daughter of her heart, Karen S Martin.

She is survived by her children; Timothy (Elizabeth) Cavnah, Kimberly J Cavnah, Barbara Walter, Michael (Augustina Vega) Cavnah and Robin (Micky) Watson; four Grandchildren; two Great Grandchildren and many dear friends.

  3. Fred and Chris Haymond says:

Shirley was one of a kind…smart, fun and always honest. Her friendship with Barb and Lee was priceless, not always perfect, but they went through the ups and downs of life together for many years. We remember her calling herself “a tough old broad” when she wasn’t all that old! We are thinking of all of you – Robin, Mike, Kim and Tim and your kids. She was loved. And for that, we know you are grateful.
    Fred and Chris Haymond

  4. Roger and Nancy Haymond says:

Speaking for the Haymond family we have fond memories of Shirley, her children and her mother Joy Marie. Shirley and our sister Barb were close friends for many years. About a month ago my brother Fred and his wife Chris were visiting us in Florida and I just happened to ask him about Shirley and if he knew of her whereabouts. He said yes that she was in Michigan so we said this summer while at Lakeside we would take a day and make a road trip to see her. She was one of the remaining few people of her group of friends. We miss them all. Roger and Nancy Haymond

  5. Mary Beth says:

Your mom was a true lady. No matter when I stopped in to see her, she always had a smile on her face. So kind and gracious. I will miss her
