Shirley Aldridge

Mrs. Shirley Aldridge, age 87, passed away on, Saturday June 4, 2022, at the Canton Christian Home in Canton, Ohio.

Shirley was born in Cedar Grove, Kanawha County, West Virginia on February 3, 1935, to parents Troy and Virginia McClain.   Shirley graduated from Duval High School in Lincoln County, WV and attended courses at Moody Bible Institute.  Shirley held numerous jobs at Christian organizations throughout her life which highlighted her joy in connecting to people:  She worked at Sword of the Lord Publishers, served as a bookstore cashier at Wheaton College, served as a receptionist at Wheaton Bible Church; served as a receptionist at MAP International; and volunteered at JAARS.

Shirley married David Aldridge on May 14, 1955.  Together they have three children, Ginny (Bobby) Passmore of Barnesville, Jim (Angela) Aldridge of Fayetteville, and Rob (Karen) Aldridge of Jackson Township, Ohio.  Shirley is also survived by sisters Gwendolyn (Frank) Alford and Elnora (Delbert) Maroon.  She was preceded in death by her husband David, parents Troy and Virginia, brother Robert, and brother Troy.

Shirley and David were proud grandparents of 9 grandchildren, Melinda, James, TJ, Christy, Ashley, Russell, Jayme, Jordan, and Spencer.  In addition, there are 22 great-grandchildren, Erin, Callie-Anna, Eli, Canaan, Bella Grace (deceased), Noah, Bobby John, Cassie, Charlee, Virginia, Elsie, Georgia, Ellis, Sawyer Bear, Natalie, Chloe, Hannah, Rory, Savannah, Luca, Lily, and Lucy.

Shirley shared a special relationship with her hallway neighbor, Richard (Dick) Beck.  Together Shirley and Dick voyaged through life together during the past two years.

Shirley loved to LAUGH and made a special effort to be KIND to others.

The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Canton Christian Home and the team at Crossroads Hospice for their care of Shirley.
