Robert Joshua Clayton(age 50) passed away Sunday, August 13th, 2023 at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio.  He was born on September 22nd, 1972 in Canton, Ohio to Reva Minger- Lawrence and Lonnie Clayton.  Josh Graduated GlenOak High School in 1990 studying Auto Shop. He joined the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation, becoming an Aviation Ordinance AO serving on the USS Abraham Lincoln Air Wing 11 during Operation Desert Shield as a member of VA-95 Green Lizards Squadron, a group of men (brothers) he stayed close with his entire life. Josh moved back to Canton in 1994 and met the love of his life, Hope Weso. They were married 6 months later, April 29th, 1995.  Josh worked at Wilkof Morris/Metals USA first as a Plate Burner, then a Truck Driver for 20 years. Josh then found his dream job working for Marathon Petroleum working in their Crude Oil Division, driving tanker trucks and training new drivers.

Josh was an accomplished guitar player and singer. Playing in many local bands including, Lonnie Clayton and the Wheels Band, Cherokee Highway, Outlaw, Hottwired, Roughneck and JJ Trucker. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer in August of 2019, admired for sharing his 4-year battle with others. Through ups, downs and multiple surgeries, he fought his fight with bravery, dignity and grace.  It was during this time Josh rediscovered a love from his youth, motorcycles. Josh made many trips around the country on his trusty Goldwing, both solo and with Brothers and Friends. He had quite a following sharing his journeys on Facebook.

Josh is survived by his ever-loving wife, Hope; sons, Jonathan Ball, Ryan Ball; daughter, Miranda Clayton; grandchildren, (Ryan) Max Ball and Henry Ball, (Miranda) Joshua Clayton and (Jonathan) Emma Ball; parents, Lonnie (Diane) Clayton Sr. and Reva Minger-Lawrence;  brothers, Lonnie (Heather) Clayton II, Shawn(Marcia) Damon; sisters, Melissa Marino, Sara (Mike) Taylor and Lindsey (Jamie) Lewis.

Josh had a sense of humor like no one else, and a love for his family and friends that was unmatched.

He didn’t want traditional funeral services. The family will be having a Celebration of Life, Friday, September 22nd, 2023 5:00pm, in the Barn at Fohl Village. Condolences and special memories of Josh can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
