Richard V. Cleeve

Richard “Bud” V. Cleeve, age 87 of Akron, passed away on the morning of December 16, 2023 surrounded by family. Bud was born to Richard and Florence Cleeve on June 11, 1936 in Binghamton, NY.

He served eight years in the United States Navy where he was a welterweight boxing champion, then was an Akron resident for the rest of his life. He was beloved in his community, by neighbors and animals alike. Bud had a great sense of humor and befriended everyone he met.

Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Norma; and a half-sister, Anita. Bud is survived by his sister Ginger; three children, Lori Johnson (Jimbo), Jerry Holt (Beth), and Debbie Nighman; six grandchildren, Kellie, Ryan, Angela, Jerry, Brandy, and Ricky; and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, 12:00 pm at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, 303 S. Chapel St., Louisville, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service. In keeping with his wishes, he will be laid to rest with full military honors in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
