Phyllis Charlene Gross

Phyllis Charlene Gross of Massillon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26th, 2020. She was born to Carl and Dell (Frymire) Jackson on May 24, 1947, in Akron, Ohio.

Phyllis married James Melvin Gross on July 6, 1962, in Clayton, Rabun County, Georgia. Throughout the years while raising a family, she worked as a machinist at various factories in and around the Akron-Barberton area. She was a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8487 Ladies Auxiliary in Mogadore Ohio. Phyllis loved her family, to cook, sew, crochet, read, practice her art skills, listening to Willie Nelson, and gospel music. She was a wife, mom, grandma, sister-in-law, and a friend that was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 58 years, children James, John, Joseph, Jerald (Keira), Jess and Joni (Robert) Chatman; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Joyce; a nephew, two nieces, numerous grandchildren, cousins, and close friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place in the spring with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron at a later date.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Aultman Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708.
