Patricia Lou Forsythe
Patricia “Pat” Lou Forsythe, age 80, of Navarre, OH passed away at home on Thursday, November 24
th
, 2022 after her battle with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in death by her son “Jimmy” Forsythe II, husband James Forsythe, and two sons-in-law, “Marty” Schaffner and “Randy” Ivan. She is survived by 4 of her children: Tammy Forsythe of Massillon, Clayton Forsythe (Lois) of Bullhead City, AZ, “Katy” Ivan of Massillon, and Patricia (Ivan) Musgrove of Navarre, as well 13 grandchildren, and 17, soon to be 18, great-grandchildren.
“Patty”, as she was called as a child, was born to Carrie and Maurice Wheeler, of Indianapolis, IN but grew up in southern California, along with her siblings, Gene, Louis, and Marlene (another sibling, Caroline, died as an infant before the move). While in California she met and married “Jim” and there they grew their family. They relocated to Massillon, Ohio in 1996 where they remained until their health forced them to move in with their daughter in Navarre, but despite most of their years being in California and their final years in Navarre, they considered Massillon “home”.
Pat was actively involved in the American Legion Post 221 of Massillon, serving as President, chaplain, and other roles for many years. In 2002 she became a Senior Soldier of The Salvation Army and volunteered in different capacities for the Massillon Corps until she was needed at home full time to care for Jim.
Married in this life for 62 years when Jim passed away in 2021, Pat and Jim will be laid to rest together at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio on December 19, 2022 at 2:15pm. Condolences and special memories of Pat can be shared with her family online at
