Nancy Diane Mathews

Nancy Diane Mathews, age 67, died on Monday, December 12, 2022 at her home in Twinsburg, Ohio.  She was born September 4, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Lenca) Hanis, and was the youngest of five children.

After graduating from Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Mathews, at Gesu Catholic Church in University Heights, Ohio.  They celebrated 46 years of marriage in November.  They started their life together in Destin, Florida, where they were blessed with a daughter, Kathryn.

Nancy loved her friends and family unconditionally and enjoyed telling stories which made everyone smile and laugh.  Many of her stories were about her time in Destin, and the frequent vacations there after the family moved back to University Heights, Ohio in 1989.  She had a “green thumb” and loved decorating the house with beautiful flowers and plants.  For fun she would cheer on the Cleveland (Indians) Guardians, and was optimistic they would win the World Series … next year.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine (Hanis) Vasko.  Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Kathryn (Mathews) Krzywicki, and her husband Timothy; two grandchildren, Colleen and Ryan; three sisters, Rosemary (Roberto), Virginia (Kerekes), Betty Jane (Nowac); many nieces and nephews.
