Laura Corinne McGovern, 89, of Canton, Ohio, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 9, 2020. She was born to the late Ralph and Edna (Thompson) Nash on January 19, 1931, in Dennison, Ohio.
Laura was a lifetime homemaker who felt her purpose was to care for her husband, raise her children, and watch her family grow. She loved the simple pleasures in life, such as planting flowers in the Spring, cooking her favorite recipes, enjoying a good BLT, watching her grandson play baseball, a good back rub, and sipping on a strawberry daiquiri until her cheeks grew rosy.
She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Maxine Reiss and Dorothy Cucchiara, nephew Larry Fulton, and her beloved dog, Teddy.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lee; her two children, Kelly (Mark) Mallen and Brian McGovern; two grandsons, Josh and Noah Mallen, granddaughter, McKenzie Mallen; niece, Patti Grimes; and multiple extended family and friends that she adored.
The family wishes to thank those who have extended their emotional support from afar due to the current gathering restrictions. A special thank you to Kathleen, Tina, and Edda from Mercy Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to Mercy Hospice at 4369 Whipple Ave NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family online at https://www.heritagecremationsociety.com/

I remember my Aunt Corine as a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Aunt Corine would always greet you with a big, welcoming smile. I will miss her but happy to think that the three sisters are together again. Much love to Uncle Mike, Kelly, Mark, Brian, Josh, McKenzie, and Noah.

I will always remember the butchering at Aunt jo’s house. Everyone helped out. We were the younger ones, but you, Brian, Sara, Sally, and Bill always took us on quite the adventures in the strip mines!! Love these memories of our family gatherings!! I’m glad I was able to see everyone a few years ago. We love you and miss you!! Sending many hugs, love, and prayers your way!!
