Jim Kline

Jim Kline, 86, passed away April 8, 2021. Jim was the best husband, father, and Popeye, affectionately named by his 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He retired from Local 219 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union after 42 years. Jim was a family-first man, never missing an event his kids were part of. He loved family trips to Port Huron, Michigan for the Makinaw boat races and his Friday night poker club. His passion for golf was passed down from his parents, which he in turn passed on to his children and grandchildren. He has 3 hole-in-ones to his credit, 2 at Valley View and 1 at Turkeyfoot. You could always find Jim at Frank’s Place on Tuesdays after golf and if someone played “Centerfield” by John Fogerty, he would have the whole bar singing along. He also attended Frank’s Place annually, to watch the Ohio State vs. Michigan game. Jim and Joan loved to entertain – JGK Invitational Golf Outing, 4th of July party, football parties, and of the course, the famous St. Patrick’s Day party.

Jim is preceded in death by parents, Germaine and Viola; wife of 55 years, Joan; son, Kevin; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte.

He is survived by daughters, Karen (Jeff) Sattler and Kim (Paul) Lauritzen; son, Keith (Kathy) Kline; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen) Harris, Katie (Scott) Riley, Bobby (Tracy) Sattler, Scott (Gabriela) Lauritzen, Michael (Kendra) Kline, Michelle (AJ) Hill, James (Kelsey) Kline, and Tricia (Bug) Silovich; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Joann) Kline; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Friday, April 16 from 3 pm – 7 pm at Billows Funeral Home, 85 N. Miller Rd, Fairlawn, OH 44333. Mass will be held Saturday, April 17 at 11 am at St. Vincent Church. The family is asking that you bring a golf ball to calling hours to fill a jar in Jim’s memory.
