Janice Renee (Miller) Thomas, 71, of Massillon, died March 25, 2024 at Aultman Compassionate Care, surrounded by her family. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

Janice was born April 20, 1952, in Byesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Nicholas Harold Miller and Jessie Faye (Hill) Barlock-Miller. She attended Holy Trinity Grade School from 1958-1966. She was a graduate of Guernsey Catholic Central class of 1970 as well as a graduate of Miami University class of 1974. She pursued a career in social work for many years in the Massillon/Canton communities and positively impacted many lives during her career.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barlock and a sister, Shirley (Barlock) Stover.

Janice is survived by her children, Jeffrey Perry and James Thomas. Also surviving are her siblings, sister Donna (David V.) Callihan, brother, Thomas (Margie) Miller and a host of niece and nephews.

In 2019, Janice developed a strong passion for animal welfare and rescuing homeless animals. These animals also survive her.

Per Janice’s request, no services will be observed and her body will be cremated. As a family, we will hold a Celebration of Life for Janice on her birthday, Saturday 4/20 at the Cambridge Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to Susan G.
