James Ford Selman, “Jimmy Diesel” age 78, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 at Altercare of Louisville, after losing the battle with cancer.
James was born on December 14
th
, 1941 in Barrackville, West Virginia to Catherine and Ed Selman. He graduated from McKinley High School and went onto serve 4 years in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. James spent most of his life as a Long-Haul Semi-Truck driver where he earned his handle “Jimmy Diesel”. He was known for his big heart, fun-loving spirit and musical talent all across the US. In his spare time, he was an avid gardener and a very talented guitar player.
He is survived by daughters, Tuleeca Buttery, Anjeanette Morrish, Jamie Wagner, and Sheena Hershey; grandchildren, Kim, Lisa, Lana, Lela, Jordan, Justin, Sarah, Aaron, Arielle, Austin, and Alexis; sisters, Charlotte Wilhelm and Wanda Holcomb
James was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Julie Slabaugh and grandson Sean
The family will host a Celebration of Life dinner at Paradise UCC at 619 East Main St., Louisville, Ohio in Fellowship Hall on March 7
th
, 4-6PM. All are welcome and encouraged to bring pictures, a covered dish, and lots of good stories. James’ ashes will later be buried with his mother, Catherine (Merchant, Selman) McFadden in West Lawn Cemetery, Canton, Ohio
