Elizabeth Takacs

Elizabeth Takacs, (nee-Mariahegyi), 97 of Lakewood passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Loving wife of the late Lajos Takacs, born in Budapest, Hungary, and received a degree in education in 1944.  She married Lajos Takacs in the same year.

After escaping from Hungary to Austria in 1957 with her husband and children, they emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1958.  Their dream to emigrate to the U.S.A. came through in 1964.  Elizabeth was an active member of St. Emeric Church.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  After her retirement from banking, she traveled extensively with her husband and also revisited Hungary several times.

She is survived by daughters Martha and Katalin, grand-daughters Alia Haloua and Jannette Haloua, great grand-daughter Athena Haloua, nephew Andras Fule (Irene) in Mississauga, Canada; Susan Palmer niece (Jennifer) from Quincy, IL; Bela McKnight Jr. from Peoria, IL; Heray Jozsef (Eva) from Budapest, Hungary and Meszaros Kati, Feri and Laura from Budapest, Hungary.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Slone & Co Funeral Directors, 13115 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44111.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 11, 2022, at 12:00 pm at St. Emeric Catholic Church, 1860 West 22
