Edward Wayne Harris
Edward Wayne Harris age 68, passed away on July 25, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
Wayne was born on January 22, 1951 in Charleston, WV to Paul and Virginia Harris, the second of five children. He graduated from Dupont High School in 1969 and briefly attended Concord College before he enlisted in the Air Force in 1970.
Wayne served in the Air Force for 20 years as a Meteorological and Navigational Systems technician, retiring as a Technical Sergeant with full honors in 1990. During his time in the Air Force, Wayne lived in Mississippi, Ohio, California, Illinois, Japan, Alaska and Florida.
After retiring from the Air Force, Wayne remained in Florida, working for B.D.Systems for 10 years, then moved to Crestview, FL and worked for Tybrin Corporation and Lowe’s. Wayne was an avid golfer, gardener and woodworker.
He is preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Paul Harris, Jr., stepmother, Talitha Jane Harris and stepsister, Loretta Shamblin. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Lee Harris; wife, Carla Dedow; and his three sisters: Patricia Bowman and husband Jim of Richlandtown, PA, Donna Hager and husband Keith of Charleston, WV, and Janie Pierce and husband Steve of New Martinsville, WV; sister-in-law, Patti Harris of Newark, Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following a family burial ceremony, Wayne will be interred at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV.
