Edgardo M. Miranda

Edgardo Miranda, 85 of Seven Hills, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

He was born November 15, 1935 in the Philippines, Edgardo lived a life of service and adventure. His childhood was spent surviving the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. When Edgardo grew up, he enlisted in the US Navy, a duty that would take him, his wife, and his son around the world. During his time in the Navy, Edgardo spent several years living in Japan, Alaska, and California with his most honorable service being his time serving in Vietnam. While traveling, Edgardo fell in love with fishing and crabbing, hobbies that allowed him to slow down and anchor himself to whatever location he was in. After 22 years in the US Navy, Edgardo transitioned to his second career working for the Federal Government in Ohio for over 20 years. In retirement, Edgardo was able to focus on family while also discovering a new love of golf and gardening. Such relaxing hobbies contrasted with his passionate support for Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Manny Pacquiao. Edgardo also loved watching Filipino teleseryes with his family. Retirement did not dampen his love for traveling; however, for he enjoyed annual family trips to Hawaii, a place that reminded him of his home in the Philippines.

Edgardo’s last days were spent in prayer with his family by his side. He left this Earth knowing he was loved and would be remembered. We find consolation that we were given a whole week after him being admitted to the hospital to express our love and say our goodbyes. Edgardo’s last words to his family were that he loved us very dearly.

He is survived by his adored and adoring wife of 57 years, Rosie; his dependable son Ermir; and his caring daughter-in-law Shirley.  Edgardo’s immeasurable love carried to his grandchildren Eric and Jack, to whom he dedicated his retirement to raising and looking after. From teaching his grandsons life skills to always putting his family first, Edgardo was the best husband, father, and grandfather anyone could ask for, but he was even more special because he was ours. Edgardo is also survived by his sole living younger sibling, Rey of Baltimore, Maryland. His older sister Luz, and other younger brother Roger await him in Heaven.

Family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Rd. Parma.  The Funeral mass will immediately follow at Noon.  Military Burial on June 3rd at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.
