E. Joan Ward
“Together Again”
E. Joan Ward, age 84, of Dover, Ohio passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 at Country Club Retirement Campus following a period of declining health. She was born in Salem, Ohio on August 14, 1934 to the late Carl and Grace Matthews. For 56 years she was married to the love of her life, Keith Allen Ward, who died on December 20, 2011. She was a graduate of Lisbon High School and worked in the billing Dept. of East Liverpool Hospital. For 30 years Joan lived in Columbiana, Ohio and worked as the office manager at Parkside Nursing Home, while also working as a real state agent. She and Keith relocated to New Philadelphia to be near family. Joan attended Lifeway Church of New Philadelphia with her family. Over the years she enjoyed driving through Amish country, spending time with her granddaughter, and sharing companionship with her dog, Shaggy.
Joan will be missed by daughter, Tammy (Scott) Thacker of New Philadelphia and her granddaughter, Hayley Jo Thacker.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Lifeway Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Joan’s family will greet guests at the church one hour prior to the service. In keeping with Joan’s wishes cremation will take place. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Condolences can be shared with the family online at https://www.heritagecremationsociety.com/.
