Daniel “Scott” Mattocks

Daniel “Scott” Mattocks 12/15/1960 – 03/14/2021

Scott Mattocks passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.  Per his wishes, he slipped away at his home while holding the hand of his wife, Roseanne.

Scott loved his large, extensive family and especially enjoyed spending time with his Mother, Carol DeRaimo.

He truly believed that life was meant to be lived to the fullest and his larger than life personality fit the philosophy perfectly.

Scott always pursued his dreams and passions. He worked hard to build a small yet successful electrical contracting business.  He loved his employees, clients, business associates and all other involved in the industry.  They all meant so much to him.

He put the same energy into his other interests.  He performed in local bands over a period of two decades.  He had the pleasure of working with some of the best musicians in Ohio and loved them all like family.

He enjoyed meeting new people and especially loved the folks he met while boating on Lake Erie.  Scott is being cremated and he wishes to have his cremains released into the waters north of Kelly’s Island once the weather allows for it.

He spent much of his free time connecting with friends that enjoyed the same interests.  He loved to ride his motorcycle, fish, camp, ski, travel, cook, boat and golf.

On August 29, 2017 Scott hit a hole in one on Ridgewood Golf Course in Parma, Ohio.  It was hole 18, a par 3, 143 yards with a 7 iron.  It was one of his happiest days on earth.  He beamed with joy and grinned from ear to ear.

Just like that hole in one was a one in a million event, so was Scott.  He was truly one in a million.

Due to Covid-19 his service and memorial has been postponed.  A gathering will be planned once it is safe for travel and groups of many can do so safely.  In the interim, please remember him fondly and pray for his family and friends.

Scott was cool! Now, I know as adults we’re really not supposed to care about being cool anymore but… if you are anything like me.. then you probably still do … at least a little. Scott Mattocks was a little bit of a legend on the music scene in this town, if you’ve been out to see a rock tribute band anywhere in the area, you were probably being mesmerized by one of Scott’s many persona’s. Whether he was swaying on the stage as Ian Astbury of the Cult, channeling his inner Bono while in his U2 band, crooning a mysterious Jim Morrison vibe while he was in his Doors Trib, surprising us all when he showed up with VAMBO Rules textbook as the Sensational Alex Harvey, or … when he would tip his cap to Brian Johnson, or and most dear to my heart … when he belted out the most heartfelt rocking BON SCOTT I’ve ever heard before or since. I always thought it uncanny that Scott was a good Bon (get it? Bon Scott). I have traveled with the band and seen the sweat these guys put into the work, I’ll tell ya folks, it’s harder than it looks! But Scott had a way of making his audience feel cool, Scott was cool, and being around Scott made his fans feel cool.

Scott and Rosie became dear friends of Tony and I over the years, and while miles have separated us over the last few, the bond we shared is still there. It never ceased to amaze me how people often asked if Tony was Scott’s little brother, or how I could get so mad at him, mad like you do with your own little brother, he just felt like family, and even when I was mad I loved him anyway. Scott was a rascal, and also a sweet soul that just wanted to have fun and make everyone happy. You don’t meet a lot of people that can light the world the way I have seen Scott do, he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Love to Rosie, and the rest of Scott’s family, you are in our hearts.
    Jen and Tony

My cousin Scott was so full of life. Nothing got him down. Not even at the end when he was sick. Loved watching him sing in his bands. His sense of humor was one of a kind. I will miss him so much. RIP Scott. We will have fun again when we meet.

We saw a totally different side of Scott. He was always courteous when he would meet my husband Bob. He would call him “Sir” each and every time they would shake hands. Rose, you have a lifetime of memories.

I am going to miss seeing Scott and his warm loud greeting, JOHNNY!!! He shared two of my biggest passions in life AC/DC and Kelley’s Island. He will be missed and always remembered. My condolences to Rose and the rest of Scott’s family. He will be my goodluck next time I fish on Kelley’s north shore.
