Cheryl Ann Bennet Burrell

Cheryl Ann Bennet Burrell, age 63, of Akron, Ohio passed away surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday May 23rd, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Cheryl was born in Springfield, Ohio on June 4th, 1957 and was an Alumni of Springfield High School, class of 1975. Cheryl was an avid gardener; she loved her flowers and plants. She enjoyed going on long adventurous rides on the Harley with her husband, visiting many picturesque locations all over the country. Cheryl loved all her dogs over the years–Champ, DQ, Konan, Peaches–and was a life-long animal lover. She was an absolute joy to be around and was the kind of friend that would do anything for you.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her dear father, Larry D. Bennet.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband and partner of 18 years, Richard J. Burrell; mother, Shirley (Bernie) Tournoux; sisters, Debbie (Denny) Thayer and Tina Bennet; brothers, Larry (Cheryl) Bennet and Kenny (Lori) Bennet; nieces, Crystal (Brad) Loar, Ashely Thayer, and Rachel (Jerry) Hennessy; nephew, Matthew Bennet; stepsons, William (Kate) Burrell and Matthew Burrell; and many grandchildren, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

The family would like to express gratitude to the care given by hospice and to all who came to help in her final days. She will be dearly missed.

Any donations can made to Humane society of Summit county in Cheryl’s memory.  https://www.summithumane.org/

Cheryl and I were friends/family from the moment we met. I remember as a child the phrase “Never met a stranger”, but I never truly understood what that really meant until meeting Cheryl. Such a complementary soul! She always had positive things to say of everyone who was a part of her life. And her green thumb was definitely something to envy! We were all blessed to have known her.
Thank you, Cheryl. The memories of you are golden.
    With Love, Kate

Cheryl will be missed and always loved. Her kindness to me the one time I spent about a week with her and my Uncle Richard when they traveled to New Orleans on the Harley was such a great visit that I will never forget. She took loving care of the last poinsettia plant my Grandmother had before her death for many years after and posted pictures each year for the family to see how much she treasured the love of her mother in law. I didn’t spend much time with her in the last 18 years because of the distance but she always made time to stay in touch with me over the years. She was a precious angel
