Charlotte Romayne Hood (nee Oppelt) age 79, went home to be with our Lord December 28, 2020. Born July 15, 1941, in Hyde Park, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Beulah (Ferringer) Oppelt. She married the former John Lawrence Hood on June 24, 1960, in Clarion and remained his steadfast wife until his death April 1, 2019. Charlotte was a teller for Society National Bank for a few years, worked with her husband at his insurance business and eventually earned her real estate license. She taught Sunday school for several years and committed her time to raising funds for several charities, specifically for the veterans and the Heart Association. At times when she wasn’t working, she enjoyed gardening and reading. She took great joy in reading to her children, especially Bible stories, which blessed us with a solid foundation in our faith. Her quiet depth and enormous compassion for all is greatly missed.
She is survived by her three children, Renee’ Yvonne (Teri Derry) Troutman of Cleveland, Ohio, John Lawrence Hood lll of Oxnard, California and Elizabeth Ruth (Herb Hulser) Hood of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; honorary daughter (niece), Lynette (RV) Vela of Big River, California; three grandchildren, Chelsea Beck, John Hood lV and James Hood; two brothers, William “Bill” (Margaret “Peg”) Oppelt, Les (Vicky) Oppelt; her sister and best friend, Sandra Burdick; several nieces, a nephew; great nieces and nephews; dear family and friends.
Graveside services, officiated by the Reverend John Flower, will be held September 20, 2021, at 1:00pm at the Clarion Cemetery.
