Carol Ann Smith
Carol Ann Smith (nee West), age 80 of Mayfield Heights, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday February 6, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born on May 22, 1942, Carol grew up in North East, PA, and attended North East Joint High School where she graduated in 1960. From there, she went onto Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned her Nursing degree in 1963. She remained in the Cleveland area where she started her professional career and settled down to start a family. She worked as a registered nurse, transitioned into home healthcare and then concluded her work career with Elk & Elk law firm.
She enjoyed spending time with her pets, gardening and listening to her favorite music from the 1960s and 1970s. She converted to Judaism in 1969 and used her faith as a guide throughout her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply about her family & loved to spend time with them. She fully retired in 2016 and spent her final years at the Schnurmann House in Mayfield Heights before moving to Menorah Park for her final months.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Manning), son-in-law Brian and granddaughters Hannah and Emily. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Valley Save-a-Pet via their website at valleysaveapet.org as she cared deeply about her pets & would have loved to help others.
