Bonnie Grissom

Bonnie Grissom age 57, of Perry Township, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Bonnie was born in Canton, Ohio on April 9, 1962 to Jerry Dowell and the late Phyllis Kasserman. She graduated from Perry High School and later married her best friend and loving husband, Joe Grissom. She loved to read, camp and care for others. She especially enjoyed time with her family. She worked as a nursing assistant at Sprenger Nursing Home in Massillon and considered it her second home. She had a strong bond with both the staff and residents that lasted until her passing.

Bonnie is survived by her husband and best friend, Joe; children, Jodi Solares, Joe Grissom, Dustin Dowell, and Dustin Grissom; grandchildren, Schuylar, Huntyr, Taylen, Dylan, Haleigh, Brenna, Melina, Ayden, Yoselin, and Hazel; father, Jerry Dowell;  and brother, Jerry Dowell (Jr).

Bonnie is preceded in death by her mother Phyllis Kasserman.

The family would like to thank Sprenger for their outpouring of support and care during her illness. Her last hours were spent being loved and cared for by the staff. Per Bonnie’s wishes, she will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date for her immediate family. Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family online at
