Beverly Ator, 89, of Hudson, Ohio passed away at Danbury Senior Living on Sunday October 13, 2024.
She was born September 8, 1935 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Russel and Dorothy (Lusk) Bordner of Tiffin, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her brother Tom Bordner of Delaware, Ohio.
Beverly is survived by her son, David (Jo} of Frankfurt, Germany; Steve (Margie) of Hudson, Ohio; Jim (Susan) of Media, PA; sister JoAnne Kimmel of Tiffin, Ohio and Bill Bordner (Rodna) of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Beverly earned her Bachelor of Science in social work from Ohio State University in 1985. She began her career as a church and community worker in Birmingham, Alabama, serving at the United Methodist Center for Senior Citizens for five years.
She was commissioned as a missionary in 1988 and ordained as a consecrated diaconal minister in 1993. Beverly spent 15 years serving the small and remote church populations in Birmingham; Greensboro, Florida; and Duffield, Virginia. She was a dedicated and beloved outreach volunteer for her entire adult life, often focused on youth ministries.
Beverly retired and returned to her hometown of Tiffin, Ohio in 2000, where she was able to enjoy time with her mother, sister, and many nieces and nephews.
She moved to Ravenna, Ohio after her mother passed to be closer to her son's family in Hudson, Ohio. She enjoyed years of continued outreach, community volunteer work, her beloved library, and her endless treasure of books. Never without a paper map in her car, Beverly maintained a deep love of travel throughout her life-whether it was to Germany, Alaska, or a nearby, new-to-her day trip.
Beverly was a devoted grandmother to Tim (Jess), Jen (Chris), Kyle (Elise), Sam, Eric, Bianca and Clint. Nothing brought her more joy than being a constant supporter of all her grandchildren's activities, and she was thrilled to welcome her three
great-grandchildren over the last years (Nora, Emilia, and Timmy Ator).
Beverly leaves a legacy of "reach out and help one another" rooted in her faith, humor, and commitment to serve. All who loved her feel blessed with cherished memories.
