Arthur Viola Jr

Early Thursday morning on March 10, 2022, Arthur Viola Jr, 84, went to be with the Lord. Born in Liverpool, West Virginia to the late Arthur Sr and Ann (Doan) Viola. Most of his life was serving in the United States Army.  He served in the military for 22 years which included four overseas tours (South Korea, two times in Germany, Vietnam).  After retiring from the Army, he came home to New Philadelphia, Ohio.  He worked at Union Hospital as a security guard for several years.  He spent his last almost five years at Oak Point Nursing Home in Baltic, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane (Trachsel) Viola.  They have four children;  Jeff (Darla) Viola, Arthur Viola III, both of Stow, Ohio,  Brian (Tera) Viola of Lima, Ohio, Elizabeth Huff of Orrville, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott and Ashley Viola, Hope, Faith, Alex and Joy Viola, and Jayden Huff.

In addition to his parents, Arthur is preceded in death by his sister, Roberta “Bert” Hammersley and grandson, Ryan Viola.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  The family would like to thank Oak Point Nursing Home for taking such great care of him.

Cremation is at Heritage Cremation Society.  Burial will be at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on March 21, 2022.
