Alice Durgin

Alice Durgin, 93, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully at Community Hospice of New Philadelphia, Ohio on December 9th, 2022 of natural causes.

Alice was born on September 24th, 1929 to  Bernard and Gertrude Kilbreth in Turner, Maine. She graduated from Leavitt High in 1947.She went on to marry Stanton Howard Durgin of Turner, Maine in 1948.

The two had their first child, Daniel in 1950 and their second child, Jeannie, was born in 1952 and their third child, Jesse, was born in 1963.

Alice dedicated her life to being a homemaker and wonderful mother. Alice supported her children growing up through the many passions and difficulties of all their lives.

Alice loved the outdoors, especially gardening and taking care of her flowers, when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness. We will miss her cooking greatly too as she was an excellent talent in the kitchen.

After her husband, Stanton passed away in 1997, she moved to a retirement community in Port Orange, Florida with her favorite pet, Woody the parrot. She described living there as some of the most treasured years of her life, enjoying the sun and beach and her favorite neighbors in the park. She later moved back to Uhrichsville in 2015 to live by her loved ones. She wasn’t a big fan of cold weather but coped well her last years enjoying the changing of the seasons and holidays with family.

Alice was predeceased by her father and mother, brother, Bernard Kilbreth, sister, Madeline Urquart, husband, Stanton and son, Daniel.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie and son, Jesse, both of Uhrichsville, Ohio, grandchildren, Robbie Jordan of California, Steven Durgin of Austin, Texas, Rodney Jordan of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Timothy Thomas of Tampa, Florida.
