Aldon Dean Vance

Aldon Dean Vance passed away at his home on October 28, 2023 at the age of 70. Born in Avery County, North Carolina, Dean was a long-time resident of Canton. He was a 1972 graduate of Canton South High School, where he lettered in Football and Track. He was employed as a logger/skidder operator after high school and was most recently employed by Freshmark Sugardale. Dean enjoyed fishing and looking for Native American artifacts.

Dean is survived by his sister, Cecelia of East Canton, who was his caretaker for the past few years as he battled cancer, a son, Justin of Wisconsin, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Bernice Vance and brother-in-law, James Mossgrove.
