Robert Leon “Butch” Weinstock Jr.

Robert Leon “Butch” Weinstock Jr., born June 30, 1942 in Canton, Ohio, and passed away on November 22, 2018 at the age of 76 following a brief illness. Bob was preceded in death by parents Robert “Windy” and Roberta “Jean” Weinstock.

After marrying the love of his life, Bonnie Oberly on September 15, 1962, they had three children; Scott (Paris), Laura (Larry), and Kim. The joy of his life was his grandchildren Mike and Sarah and very special great granddaughter Cassie. Bob was loved by many step-grandchildren and other family members and friends.

After graduating from Perry High School, Bob worked as a millwright at Timken Steel for 30 years until he retired in 1997. Bob’s woodworking hobby quickly grew into B&B Woodcrafts designing and building fine wood furniture for many area businesses. His other hobbies included fishing, gardening and following his favorite sports teams.

Bob was a talker. He made friends everywhere he went. Going to run simple errands quickly turned into a day long experience while he chatted with friends, new and old. Bob loved people. While growing his wood working business, Bob made many friends doing craft shows at Columbus Wholesale show, Great Trails, Atwood’s Fall Festival, Weaver School craft show, and Highland School craft show. Early on in his career he was featured in the Canton Repository as a growing business.

Some of Bob’s favorite memories included years of playing fumble ball. He started out playing on the team and ended up managing the team for many years. Most of the games ended up with cookouts at our house for the players and their families. He loved coordinating the fundraisers for the team with evenings filled with activities.

Bob loved to garden. He started all of his own plants and many of the flowers around his house. He often could be found in his garden grooming his plant. It was always a competition to see who could grow the biggest and best tomatoes around.

Bass fishing was his favorite pastime. He spent years waking at the crack of dawn to get his boat to the “honey-hole” with his son on Saturday morning. He has fished all of his favorite lakes up and down the East Coast. His favorite place to fish remained Leesville Lake.

A memorial service will be held at the Eleventh Street Church of God. Family will begin receiving friends at 4:30 pm with service to start at 5 pm on Nov 30, 2018. In an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Eleventh Street Church of God in his memory.
