Dorothy Jean Price

Dorothy Jean Price (née Hunter) was born on January 21st, 1937 in Birmingham Alabama to Odelle and Preston Hunter. She graduated from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1956 and moved to Ohio to join her aunt Katherine, working as a nursing assistant, licensed cosmetologist, and home health aide throughout her career. Dorothy enjoyed socializing with friends and visiting loved ones, along with shopping and crafts. She served as a refuge for countless friends and neighbors, welcoming many into her home during difficult times, always providing a meal and listening ear. She was a cherished member of a tight-knit community of families on Elm Avenue where she lived for more than 50 years.

In addition to her parents, her sisters Minnie and Kerry, her brother Preston Jr., and her son Edgar precede Dorothy in death.

She leaves behind her beloved sons, James and Reginald, her grandchildren, Jamie Ann and James Zachary, her nieces Regina, Rita and Frieda, nephews Bobbie and Gerald, and countless friends and neighbors. Dorothy Jean was known for her generosity, wisdom, savvy and wit. Many will dearly miss her.

A memorial service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held in the chapel of Altercare at St. Joseph Center, 4291 Richmond Road, Warrensville Heights, Ohio 44122 on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family at https://www.heritagecremationsociety.com/.
